Sangeet songs list 2026: family, couple, bride and groom dances

Short answer
Choose sangeet songs by who is dancing, not by what is trending: a soft, emotional song for the bride’s entry, a romantic one for the couple, a familiar old classic for parents, and a high-energy, easy-beat song for cousins, friends and the family finale. Trim every song to 1.5–3 minutes, and keep one Gujarati or Garba track so the whole hall can join in.
Before you pick: three questions that decide the song
Every family starts with a long wish list from Instagram reels. That is a good start, but the right song depends on the people who will actually be on stage. Before you lock anything, ask:
- Who is dancing, and how comfortable are they? A group of first-time dancers needs a steady beat and a chorus that repeats, not a fast track full of tricky changes.
- What should guests feel? Entries can be emotional, the couple dance romantic, the friends’ act fun, the finale a celebration. Give each act one job.
- Does the family know the song? Songs the elders recognise get the loudest cheer. A mix of old and new keeps both generations happy.
Below are songs that work well at Ahmedabad sangeets, grouped by who is dancing. Every entry is a song title with its film or artist, so you can find it easily.
Bride entry songs
The bride’s entry is the moment everyone records on their phone. Choose a song with a gentle start, so she can walk in, and a lift in the middle for a short dance.
| Song | Film or artist | Mood |
|---|---|---|
| Din Shagna Da | Phillauri (2017) | Soft, emotional walk-in |
| Kudmayi | Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023) | Gentle and graceful |
| Navrai Majhi | English Vinglish (2012) | Playful, builds into a dance |
| Sajan Ji Ghar Aaye | Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) | Classic, family favourite |
| Mehendi Hai Rachne Wali | Zubeidaa (2001) | Traditional, good for mehendi-themed sangeets |
Groom entry and groom solo songs
Grooms usually want swagger and a bit of fun. These songs have a strong beat, so even a groom who has never danced can carry them with a few confident moves.
- Dulhe Ka Sehra – Dhadkan (2000)
- Morni Banke – Badhaai Ho (2018)
- Tenu Leke – Salaam-e-Ishq (2007)
- Sauda Khara Khara – Good Newwz (2019)
- Kala Chashma – Baar Baar Dekho (2016)
Couple dance songs
For the bride and groom together, slower romantic songs are easier to perform well than fast ones. They let the couple focus on lifts, turns and expressions instead of counting steps. Many couples join two songs: one slow, one upbeat.
| Song | Film | Tempo |
|---|---|---|
| Raataan Lambiyan | Shershaah (2021) | Slow to medium |
| Kesariya | Brahmastra Part One: Shiva (2022) | Slow |
| Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai | Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) | Slow |
| Gerua | Dilwale (2015) | Slow |
| Tere Vaaste | Zara Hatke Zara Bachke (2023) | Medium |
| Chaleya | Jawan (2023) | Medium |
Songs for parents and elders
Parents often say they will “just stand in the back”, then steal the show. Give them songs from their own time, at a medium tempo, so they can enjoy it.
- Mere Haathon Mein Nau Nau Choodiyan Hain – Chandni (1989)
- Ude Jab Jab Zulfein Teri – Naya Daur (1957)
- Tujhe Dekha To – Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)
- Pehla Nasha – Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992)
- Dekha Ek Khwab – Silsila (1981)
- Dilbaro – Raazi (2018), for an emotional father–daughter moment
Siblings and cousins
Cousins are usually the biggest group and the most enthusiastic. Pick songs with a clear chorus so a mixed group of confident and shy dancers can stay together.
- Gallan Goodiyaan – Dil Dhadakne Do (2015)
- Nachde Ne Saare – Baar Baar Dekho (2016)
- London Thumakda – Queen (2014)
- Mehndi Laga Ke Rakhna – Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995)
- Kudi Nu Nachne De – Angrezi Medium (2020)
- Banno – Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015)
Friends of the bride or groom
The friends’ act is where you can be loud and a little cheeky. Fast songs are fine here, as long as the steps stay simple.
- Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai – Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002)
- Aaj Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai – Aadmi Sadak Ka (1977)
- Kar Gayi Chull – Kapoor & Sons (2016)
- Desi Girl – Dostana (2008)
- What Jhumka? – Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023)
- Naatu Naatu – RRR (2022)
Whole-family finale
End with a song everyone knows, so aunts, uncles and even guests can join for the last chorus.
- Say Shava Shava – Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001)
- Bole Chudiyan – Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001)
- Wah Wah Ramji – Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! (1994)
- Maahi Ve – Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003)
- Ainvayi Ainvayi – Band Baaja Baaraat (2010)
Gujarati and Garba picks
In an Ahmedabad sangeet, a Garba or Gujarati song is the one moment every guest wants to be part of. Use one as the opening, the finale, or a short medley in between.
| Song | Film or source | Best used for |
|---|---|---|
| Dhol Baaje | Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) | Family Garba act |
| Nagada Sang Dhol | Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013) | High-energy opening |
| Udi Udi Jaye | Raees (2017) | Couple or ladies’ Garba |
| Shubhaarambh | Kai Po Che! (2013) | Easy group Garba |
| Chogada | Loveyatri (2018) | Cousins and friends |
| Dholida | Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022) | Bride with sisters |
| Vhalam Aavo Ne | Love Ni Bhavai (2017, Gujarati film) | Gujarati couple dance |
| Char Bangdi Vadi Gaadi | Kinjal Dave | Fun family act |
| Mehndi Te Vavi Malve | Traditional Gujarati wedding song | Mehendi or elders |
| Taara Vina Shyam Mane Ekladu Lagse | Traditional Garba | Garba medley |
Choosing songs for first-time dancers
Most sangeet groups include someone who has never danced before. The song can make their job easy or hard. Here is what to look for:
- Medium tempo. A steady beat you can clap to is easier than a very fast or very slow track.
- A repeating chorus. The same hook step can come back two or three times, so there is less to remember.
- No sudden tempo changes. Songs that switch from slow to fast mid-way catch beginners off guard.
- Short length. Cut every song to 1.5–3 minutes. A full four- or five-minute film song is too long to learn in 10–12 days and too long for guests to watch.
- Mashups with care. Two or three songs joined together are fine; six songs in three minutes are not.
Tip from Shruti
Send me your song shortlist and the names of who is dancing before the first session. I help you choose the songs that suit your group, then edit and trim them to the right length, so practice starts with the final music file and nobody learns steps for a part we later cut. You will also get practice recordings to rehearse with between sessions.
How many songs do you need?
Most families need four to eight dances: an opening, a few family and friends’ acts, the couple dance and a finale. Each song is one dance, so your song list is also your programme. For help putting them in the right order, read how to plan a sangeet running order. If some of your dancers are nervous, see sangeet with first-time dancers.
I charge per dance, not per package: Solo ₹2,500, Couple ₹3,500 and Group ₹3,500, each with 10–12 days of training at your home or my Odhav studio. Four or more performances get a discount. You can add your songs as dances in the programme builder on the wedding choreography page, or see all rates on the prices page. For a full cost breakdown, read what sangeet choreography costs in Ahmedabad.
